Why use blockchain for real assets?

What shared records and automation change is something that still needs to be confirmed in reality. RWA Concept Series 3.

If asset contracts, holding details, operating performance, and settlement data are divided among multiple institutions, it incurs costs and time to verify them. Blockchain can be a means for participants to verify a common record of transactions.

Information divided into several ledgers

Conventional finance also uses electronic records and disclosure systems. The difference is not just whether paper or digital, but also who updates the records and who can verify them, and to what extent.

Verifiable Records

You can check the token issuance amount, transfer history, and contract execution results on the chain. The extent of disclosure depends on the network and service design, and visibility of an address does not necessarily reveal the actual individual's identity.

Asset valuation, rent, collateral, and insurance information are not automatically uploaded on-chain. It is important who inputs and updates real-world data and on what basis.

Possibility of settlement automation

Smart contracts can consistently apply settlement rules to the extent that funds, data, and execution conditions are available. There is room to reduce manual verification steps, but this does not eliminate all oracle, operational, custody, and legal costs.

Even rules with errors can be executed as code, so security auditing and permission management are necessary. The scope of automation and any exceptions should be confirmed in the contract.

Real-world procedures to achieve transparency

Linking token records and real-world asset rights requires contracts, asset storage and management, external verification, and dispute resolution mechanisms to work together.

Blockchain is a tool that creates verifiable records. It is not a device that automatically guarantees the quality and profits of the asset itself and the veracity of the input data.
